Family Mystic is more than just a band; they are a transformative experience that redefines healing through song, dance, and emotional connection. Based out of Portland, OR, this collective of four visionary songwriters blends elements of classic funk/soul, 60’s/70’s psychedelia, a splash of progressive jazz fusion, led by four-part vocal harmonies, innovating a genre-defying experience that calls listeners into the heart of being human through the sanctity and celebration of music.
With two studio albums — "Home in Your Heart" (2021) and "Adventures of Nemara" (2022) — plus six live albums, the band has established themselves as a significant force in the Pacific Northwest music scene. Their sound draws comparisons to legendary acts like the Grateful Dead, Vulfpeck, Herbie Hancock, Jackson 5, and Earth, Wind & Fire, while maintaining their own distinctive identity. The result of these brothers thoughtfully expressing their craft with aligned intentions, invites listeners to feel belonging in the music itself.
Family Mystic has shared stages with acclaimed artists including Holly Bowling, Yaima, Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Mose, MaMuse, Diggin Dirt, March Fourth Marching Band, Elias Alexander (Ramblxr), Kendall Street Company, and Pink Talking Fish. Their performances consistently draw crowds of 200-300 people at established venues, and their innovative pop-up shows in parks and public spaces have become community fixtures, attracting a diverse following of music lovers, mystics, pranksters, and families.
