Fascinating Fungi: from ecosystem to kitchen | Shed-ucation Summer Series

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Perplexed about whether a mushroom's a plant or an animal? Found yourself intrigued by some intricately frilly fungus on Instagram or the trailer for a Netflix doco? Want to find out just how easy it can actually be to grow (and cook!) them in your own kitchen?

Join Amy and Mickey from Little Acre Gourmet Mushrooms for a fun discussion on:

  •  What is a mushroom?
  • Mushroom life cycle
  • What role fungi play in the eco-system
  • What types of mushrooms we can grow at home
  • Best way to cook mushrooms

About your host

Urban farmers Amy and Mickey Pascoe, founders of Little Acre Gourmet Mushrooms, are on a mission to educate people about the fascinating world of fungi.

Many people’s limited experience of mushrooms in Australia means they are in the dark about fungi and the vast array of varieties people can grow and eat themselves.

The pair have developed mushroom grow kits and a practical online course to share their mushroom methods with the wider community and spread the word about the amazing benefits mushrooms can have on our wellbeing and the wellbeing of the environment.

About Shed-ucation

Shed-ucation Sessions are community-driven workshops, knowledge-shares and discussions on everything from line drawing to line dancing to training your chooks to walk in a straight line (maybe?). They’re mostly online, and all free. If you’re keen to get involved as a participant or presenter, you can find out more here.
