Sweet Potato Gleaning and Farm Tour at Owl's Nest Farm

Slow Food DC is organizing another harvest day in support of one of our amazing local farms and a Snail of Approval Winner, Owls Nest Farms! Volunteers will spend the morning helping to harvest sweet potatoes and gleaning any sweet potatoes that cannot be used by the farm.  Gleaned sweet potatoes will be distributed for free in Washington DC. After 90-120 minutes of harvesting, we will receive a short farm tour and have the chance learn about the sustainable farming practices at Owls Nest Farms

Volunteers requiring transport should expect to meet at either the Dupont or Columbia Heights metro (select location when you get a ticket) between 7:30-7:45am and they will be driven to Owls Nest Farms. All volunteers should have close toed shoes, long pants, sun protection, work gloves, refillable water bottle and be prepared to get dirty. Please bring a re-usable water bottle. We will help around the farm from 8:30-10:30, before a farm tour and picnic lunch on the farm. Lunch will be provided to all who register!

All volunteers will need to fill out Owls Nest Liability Waiver upon arrival.

All volunteers requiring transport will be required to sign a liability waiver with Slow Food before departure. $5 to register is a donation to help cover the cost for volunteer lunch.
