In light of the recent changes in abattoir access for farmers across Australia, Sustainable Table, in collaboration with the Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance (AFSA), is hosting an online roundtable discussion with:

  • Patrick O’Neill - Small Farmers WA
  • Tammi Jonas - Meat Collective @ Jonai
  • Matthew Tack - Southern Tasmanian Association of Meat Producers (STAMP)

This is an opportunity for industry to come together and discuss alternative options and share knowledge and resources.

  • The rapid closure of abattoirs across the country
  • The impact of abattoir closures on farmers, processors, and rural communities
  • The establishment of farmer-led collective abattoir models to build micro and mobile abattoirs
  • Governance models for successful farmer-led collectives 
  • Advocating for regulatory reforms to facilitate micro-abattoirs
