Event description

Does your teen need to FARRT?

If you have shy, anxious, fearful or highly sensitive teenagers, we'll teach them to become FARRTers...

and build the real functional skills to feel confident and resilient.

Covid and lockdowns have got a LOT to answer for, right?

They magnified and compressed so many existing challenges...

and created a whole bunch of new ones for young people.

In fact, from a human behaviour standpoint, Covid trauma stopped emotional development in its tracks.

Which is why your kids might be experiencing increased stress in dealing with real life.

So, online over 8 weeks, we'll be helping your teens build the skills to understand what makes them tick, so that they can start making better decisions...  for themselves.

BUT you have to make the first decision for (and hopefully with) them.

Week 1, we invite you (the parent/guardian) to join with your teen as we look at our beliefs in a session we call Ignite and Rewrite.

From there, we'll be exploring topics like:

  • managing ranting self talk
  • building confidence
  • dealing with the 'what if' conversations
  • understanding fear (so that you can fear fear less)

Depending on the group, the teens will be invited to vote for the topic they most want to explore.

And there's no pressure if they want to have their camera off.

So many of the students we've worked with (and were at 10,000 and counting) have started with no engagement.

Just quietly lurking in the background.

But over time, have built the confidence to have their camera on, even for just a little while.

Or add a comment or emoji.

Then come off mute.

And for one of our most shy students, by the final week of the program, he transformed from lurker to worker when he came off mute and shared his story of growth.

Then WE had to go off-camera to wipe our proud eyes.

The best bit? All of this happened without one single Powerpoint slide.

Because we want to make our time together as comfortable and real as possible (while still gently stretching comfort zones).

Will we be a bit silly and fun with it all?

Hell yeh, because life has become waaay tooo serious and because FARRTers learn how to 'let one rip' to lighten things up a bit.

THE PROGRAM

Targeted at 12-17 year olds, although happy to discuss younger or older participants.

60 minutes a week for 8 weeks - live online. Starting Monday 27 May at 4.30 to 5.30pm and finishing 15 July.

Parents/guardians are invited to attend the first session.

At that session, recommended family 'homeplay' (cos no one want more homework) will be provided to help support a positive home environment.

This homeplay is a simple daily exercise that can be managed in a number of ways, including around the dinner table or using post it notes etc.
