After the Bell: Fashion Industry Impacts and Insights

Every second, the equivalent of one rubbish truck of textiles is landfilled or incinerated globally.

The fashion industry alone is responsible for about 10% of global carbon emissions and 20% of wastewater created.

Although charities seem to be a good option to re-purpose textiles, only 1% of total collected disposed garments are recycled.

But is it all wrong? There are some incredible community initiatives and researchers investigating and raising awareness about the impacts of this industry but we all need to do our bit and being informed is a great step!

Presenter: Aleasha McCallion - Strategic Projects Manager, Monash Sustainable Development Institute.

Join us to explore what’s happening in the fashion industry and how the future looks. The more we know, the better decisions we make.
