Fashioning Inclusion
Event description
This panel on fashion and inclusion is presented by the Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Fashion + Textiles, a partnership between TAFE NSW and UTS. Speakers, comprising alumni and current students and staff, will discuss inclusion and exclusion within fashion from multiple perspectives, including fashion and modesty, designing for diverse bodies (size, gender, age, ability, etc.) and fashion at the margins (e.g. queer fashion). Speakers include:
Ilham Ismail, UTS Fashion and Textiles Honours graduate from 2015, current UTS PhD candidate
Niamh Galea, UTS Fashion and Textiles Honours graduate from 2018, owner of Ramp Tramp Tramp Stamp
Bridget Matison, UTS Fashion and Textiles Honours graduate from 2023Â
Wajiha Pervez, current UTS PhD candidate, UTS sessional staff
Safwan, current UTS MDes (Research) candidate, UTS research assistant
Each speaker gives an opening talk, followed by moderated questions and audience Q&A. Associate Professor Timo Rissanen, research director at the Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Fashion + Textiles, will moderate the discussion.
