Founding Fathers - A Playback & CommuniTEA Salon Celebrating Fatherhood
Event description
Every father has a story. This Father's Day Eve, we want to hear their stories & celebrate their journey.
While the city lines up for parades and performances, we’re gathering to honor the real, everyday work of fatherhood.
Join us for Founding Fathers—a special Playback & CommuniTEA Salon uplifting the presence, care, and strength of fathers and father figures who weave love and stability into the fabric of our communities. In the Black community, these men are often the mentors, nurturers, and protectors who help build and sustain collective wellness.
Hosted by artist/curator Melani N. Douglass and playback theater practitioner John Johnson, this intimate evening centers stories of fathering, being fathered, and growing through fatherhood. Through the powerful practice of Playback Theater, audience stories will be transformed into live, improvisational performances—creating space for deep reflection, healing, and connection.
✨ Signature tea blends from MĀK Apothecary will be served.
🎤 All are welcome to listen, share, or simply be held in community.
