Fauré Requiem for Remembrance Sunday
Description
Fauré Requiem sung in its liturgical context for Remembrance Sunday; followed by Brunch on the Lawn (or in the hall, depending on the weather).
Remembrance Sunday is the Sunday nearest to Armistice Day (11 November, marking the end of the First World War).
This Remembrance Sunday liturgy, with Gabriel Fauré's beloved Requiem*, is sung by the Choir of Holy Trinity Church. It also includes the sounding of Last Post and Reveille on solo trumpet, the laying of wreaths, and the keeping of the minute of silence.
The liturgy is followed by a buffet brunch on the lawn (or hall).
The event is, of course, free, but do register for catering purposes if intending to stay for brunch.
* All of the Requiem is performed except one movement. The Offertorium is not sung.
Parking in the streets near the church is unmetered on Sundays. The church is about a 5 minute walk from Fortitude Valley train station.
