Favourite Kid 'Song About Water' Single Launch with Slowgrass and Elkie Louie
Event description
Favourite Kid are excited to be playing back in their hometown at Gympie Music Hall at the AICM
Favourite Kid are a dynamic sibling trio who have bounced onto Queensland’s indie-folk, alt-country and pop music scene with influences from Mumford & Sons, George Ezra and The Lumineers. It all started over five years ago when older brother, Ethan started writing and recording his own songs as Aspy Jones and then talked his sister, Jaimie and brother, Saul into joining him. Favourite Kid have already graced the renowned stages at many festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Fest, Undercover Artist Festival and the Gympie Music Muster and their exceptional talent earned them a Limelight Award when they played at the Caloundra Music Festival. Songwriter, Ethan was also the first to win the Q Music Dalwood-Wylie Award at the Queensland Music Awards in 2024.
Meet Slowgrass – the alt-country duo made up of Beth and Brendon. With raw, stripped-back tunes and soulful sound, you’ll find a warm, nostalgic vibe in every song. Think homegrown stories, simple beauty, and melodies that stick with you. Whether you’re into folk, country, blues, or just love music that feels real, Slowgrass will hit you with their heartfelt harmonies.
Elke Louie
Local indie singer-songwriter Elke Louie will set the chill out vibes for the evening with some original tunes. Lead singer of local band Hugo and the Hive, who have played at festivals and venues throughout Queensland, Elke Louie is a rising star to watch.
