Event description

With the Federal Election right around the corner, being with our community is more important than ever. Join Sydney Bi+ Network for a peer support cuppa - a supportive gathering to connect with bi+ folks in the lead up to the election. Whether you’re feeling anxious about possible election outcomes or energised about getting involved and creating change, this cuppa is for you.

Please make sure to register so we can reserve a large enough table at Flour Drum.

This is not a dating or pick up event. Sydney Bi+ Network aims to create spaces which are as safe as possible for our communities. Make sure you check out our community guidelines: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C6gkeAenQLffF5BLVDSrXpzOttOXOATCpX-iQLuLoIs/edit?usp=sharing

What to expect:

We will be meeting at a public cafe, which can sometimes be noisy and busy. We encourage you to bring anything you might need for noisy/busy environments.

We will have a bi and pan flag at the table.

Please note that Sydney Bi+ Network is a volunteer-run, grassroots organisation and not a licensed mental health care provider. This means we can create spaces for peer support and conversation but are not able to offer professional mental health services. If you would like more information about mental health services, please visit: https://here.org.au/services/

Who is this event for?

This event is for anyone who experiences attraction to more than one gender, in any way, to any degree. We welcome people who are bi+, bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, omnisexual, polysexual, biromantic, panromantic, gay, lesbian, questioning, and more. We welcome people who use more than one label to describe themselves, people who use no labels, and people who use other languages or terminology to describe themselves. We also recognise that bi+ folks and the people who love them can experience unique barriers to inclusion and we invite bi+ allies, partners, friends, family (biological or logical) members and loved ones to attend.

Getting to Flour Drum

Flour Drum is located on the southern end of Newtown, between Alice and Holmwood Street. The closest train stations are Newtown or St. Peters.

Accessibility

Flour Drum is wheelchair accessible. There are no stairs to any of the seating areas. The cafe can be a bit noisy and busy, so we suggest bringing anything you might need for noisy environments.
