We will ask for a voluntary donation of £5pp for food on the night.

Community Cultures

There will be a Community Cultures table for sharing sourdough starters, milk kefir and water kefir grains, ginger bugs, kombucha and vinegar scobies, nukazuke beds and anything else you think the group may like! Please provide care instructions!

Le Tacheron

Le Tacheron are an exciting heritage farm based in Trinity, growing and milling a range of organic cereals, including spelt, oats, barley and heritage wheat, brewing cider and rearing grass fed goat, sheep and cows. Their traditional mill produces high quality stoneground flour that is rich in oils and nutrients. Le Tacheron use working horses wherever possible to minimise their impact on the environment and reduce soil compaction. When they can't use horses they use lightweight machinery to minimise carbon emissions. They plant 10% of their land with wildflowers.

"We care about our food and where it comes from. We care about the environment and we care about what our families eat." Charles Le Maistre, Le Tacheron

FAQs

  • What shall I bring to the Fermentation Club Gathering?
    1. Something for the sharing table. This could be something you have fermented yourself, like water kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut or kimchi, something you have made with a fermented food, such as a yoghurt dip, or a fermented food you really like, such as a good cheese. You will be asked to label your food on arrival. In addition to the food that guests bring there will be some hot food from SCOOP and fresh bread from The Radical Baking Club, plus a bar of locally brewed beers, wines and possibly cocktails. We should end up with a delicious feast to enjoy!

    2. If you have any starter cultures, please bring them along for the Community Cultures table! This can be milk kefir and water kefir grains, ginger bugs, kombucha and vinegar scobies, nukazuke beds and anything else you think the group may like. Please provide care instructions!

  • Can anybody join the Fermentation Club?

Yes! The Fermentation Club is for anybody with a curiosity towards fermented foods, from kefir to sauerkraut, cheese, sourdough, kimchi, miso, sake, wine, beer, yoghurt, nukazuke and more.

In 2021 he co-founded The Fermenters Guild UK and in 2024 published The Science of Fermentation. He is currently launching Scotland's first artisanal miso kitchen. It aims to grow the product category as a whole, demystifying fermentation by informing and engaging the public on fermented food through members' classes & workshops nationwide. • What is The Radical Baking Club?

The Radical Baking Club is a community focused baking club that aims to provide opportunities for bread baking enthusiasts in Jersey to come together and share experiences, knowledge, recipes, techniques and ideas. The Radical Baking Club is open to all, welcoming both experienced bakers and those that have just started baking.

With a slow food philosophy The Radical Baking Club will explore the potential for baking radically nutritious, localised, sustainable and delicious bread and what this means in the local context. We will be a community dedicated to baking extraordinary bread, celebrating traditions, experimentation, curiosity and sustainable food systems.
