Ferns and Fungi excursion on Kunanyi/ Mount Wellington

Enter the Tasmanian cool temperate rainforest with forest ecologist and expert guide Yoav Daniel Bar-Ness for a walk along some of Kunanyi/ Mount Wellington’s splendid tracks. Participants will learn about fern biodiversity, mushroom spotting, wood decay, and the geology of Kunanyi/ Mount Wellington. We’ll also try out some citizen science tools to record our observations of local biodiversity. 

We’ll meet outside the Fern Tree Tavern, easily accessible from town by a short bus or car ride, and then enjoy a two-hour walk. The trails are fairly easy and suitable for most fitness levels. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and warm layers. You might also want to bring water and a snack.
