Perth's best literary festival, celebrating all things fiction, is back for 2026!
On behalf of the Peter Cowan Writers' Centre and proudly presented by the City of Joondalup and Creative Australia.
This year’s Festival of Fiction will be over two massive days in two concurrent theatres at ECU Joondalup on the weekend of 21 and 22 November, 2026. We've got 80 authors, 10 publishing industry professionals, continuous panels and workshops over two amazing days -- this is Perth's biggest and best book-based event! See the program here.
For Readers
One theatre this year will be purely for reader entertainment. It will feature back-to-back panels of bestselling authors on a range of fun and insightful topics and is aptly called our Readers’ Theatre. Doors will open both days at 8am with a start time of 8.40am and the festival runs through until 5.45pm each day.
For Writers
Running at the same time, 150m away in another auditorium, will be our Writers’ Theatre. The Writers’ Theatre will have presentations of mini-masterclasses by some of Australia’s best authors and panels, featuring publishers and literary agents. Doors will open both days at 8am with a start time of 8.40am and the festival runs through until 5.45pm each day.
Amenities
Bermuda Cafe will be open throughout, as well as a coffee and food vans on site. Dymocks is offering continuous book sales so you can get your new books signed by the authors, and there's even a booklovers' merch stand from That Store Over There.
Pitching?
We’re bringing back our 5 minute in-person pitching opportunity for aspiring authors with leading publishers and agents - 10 of them this year, spread over both days of the weekend! Tickets for pitching are $60 and are separate to festival tickets.
You DON’T need to buy a festival ticket to be able to pitch, all you need is the separate pitch ticket (although you will need both tickets if you want to attend the festival as well as pitching). Pitch tickets go on sale on 15 August at 8am.
Please note: you must select a timeslot during the purchase process for each pitch ticket you buy. If you miss this step, it may result in your ticket being cancelled, as the timeslot may have been allocated elsewhere. It is your responsibility to purchase the ticket and timeslot correctly.

Free and accessible parking is in Carpark 2 at Edith Cowan University Joondalup. Follow the signs to the event.

Printed programs will be available on the day and we will send downloadable printable panel schedules to our newsletter subscribers.
Bermuda cafe will be open from 8am until 4.30pm, serving food and drinks and and we have coffee/food trucks on site. But you can also feel free to bring your own packed lunch to have outside, being mindful that your bag needs to be small enough to fit under your seat and not block the aisles.

FAQs
- I can't find my ticket!
It's likely your ticket has slipped into another folder in your email. Check your spam/junk folder, your Promotions tab if you have one, then try a keyword search for 'Festival of Fiction' or 'Humanitix'. If none of that works, please message us here on Humanitix or on festivaloffiction@gmail.com with the name you used on your order, and we will resend your ticket manually.
If you bought multiple tickets on the same day, some email systems will stack them together so it looks like you've only received one email. Click into the email and scroll to see all your tickets.
- I bought the wrong ticket. Can I get a refund?
Yes, and you can manage it yourself right up to a month before the event (standard tickets) or 30 September (pitch tickets). Open your emailed ticket and click 'Manage Order' then follow the prompts to complete your refund. You will receive a refund, less the ticket platform fee of 5%.
- How do I get there on public transport?
The nearest station is Joondalup on the Perth-Joondalup line. The station is an eight minute walk from campus. Visit the Transperth website for timetables and to access the Journey Planner.
- Where should I park?
Carpark 2 is best for our event, then follow the signs or ask a volunteer in high vis.
Parking at ECU is free on weekends and you may park in any bay, regardless of signage, except those marked for disabled parking (unless you hold a valid ACROD permit).
- Is there a pitching FAQ?

- When can I buy pitching tickets?
They go live at 8am on 15 August, 2026, right here on this ticket page. Make sure you've subscribed to our newsletter for updates and reminders.
- Where can I see the program?
The full program will go live at 8am on Saturday 18 July, 2026. You can get a downloadable, printable version before the event to help you plan your day. Subscribe to our newsletter to receive it.
- Where are the accessible toilets and parking?
ECU Joondalup has four Accessible Parking bays in Carpark 2. View a map of accessible parking, services and toilets.

- I need accessibility information.
Both theatres are fully accessible for wheelchair users. Please come and see a volunteer at the door (high vis vest or black Festival t-shirt) and we’ll guide you.
All sessions will be captioned.
If you or someone you are attending with has difficulty with queuing, please skip the queue and come to the front.
We have a Quiet Room available all weekend in Building 4. Please see us at the door of either theatre if you need to utilise this space.
Parking in Carpark 2 is accessible.
- Who can help me at the event?
Please talk to one our friendly event volunteers, dressed in a black Festival of Fiction t-shirt or a high vis vest.
- What food and drinks will be available?
Bermuda Cafe is open from 8am to 4pm all weekend and you can order online for a quick and simple pick up. We HIGHLY recommend preordering so you’re not queueing all through the lunch break. Visit bermudaecu.com.au/order-online. Bermuda cafe will be open from 8am until 4.30pm.
Additional food and coffee vans are on site all weekend.
There are plenty of water bottle refilling stations around the campus.
Vending machines are located around campus.
Feel free to bring your own packed lunch to have outside, being mindful that your bag needs to be small enough to fit under your seat and not block the aisles.
This is an alcohol free event.
- I've lost something at the festival.
During the festival, come to Building 4 and ask a volunteer. After the festival, contact the Peter Cowan Writers’ Centre on operations@pcwc.org.au.
- Is there a first aider on site?
Yes. For immediate assistance or minor issues, we have a qualified first aider on site. Please ask a volunteer for help. In an emergency, call 000.
