Fête for the Forest

Since starting as a handful of locals powered by a modest grant and a vision for rejuvenated urban forests, Ward 8 Woods has become an effective and respected champion for long neglected green spaces and the people around them. In seven years, now with 3 full-time and 5 part-five staff, we have:

• cleared over 1.5 million pounds of trash;

• saved 9,000 trees from invasive vines; and 

• provided income, training + meaningful work to residents otherwise facing unemployment. 

Recognizing this progress, Spur Local, the region’s premier guide to civic engagement, named us to its 2025 class. 

The work continues, but we are taking a moment to celebrate! Support us as we toast our successes and lay the financial foundations for future growth, recognizing donors, volunteers, allies and supporters like you. Fête for the Forest will recognize past progress and raise vital funds to carry it into the future as we rededicate ourselves to the work of environment justice.
