Landscape Rehydration Field Day - Tuntable Creek, NSW
Event description
Water heals landscapes!
Learn how to read water processes to interpret landscape health. Discover the strategies that deliver results.
This Introductory Landscape Rehydration Field Day supported by North Coast Regional Landcare Network under the Caring for Catchments project and presented by Mulloon Institute provides a foundational understanding of a farm’s water cycle and our approaches to rehydrating rural landscapes. Explore a range of strategies including natural structures that can optimise a farm’s water cycle and improve landscape function.
As part of this field day, landholder Janelle Schafer will show the work she has been doing in her Caring for Catchments Project. This involves rehabilitating the riparian zone of an eroded gully, which has been colonised by Banna Grass. The project’s three main aims are to reduce fire risk, increase biodiversity, and slow water flow. Janelle is an agroecologist with 30 years of experience in permaculture and teaching. She has just finished Mulloon Institute’s Professionals Intensive Course, and is now using those skills to implement this landscape rehydration project.
