Field of Mars Cemetery History Tours with Ryde District Historical Society

Join resident historians from the Ryde District Historical Society and discover some of the hidden gems at Field of Mars Cemetery. Learn about the colourful characters who have shaped the region and our history.

Tours will be held on the following dates meeting at the white cottage within the cemetery grounds at 10.45am for an 11.00am start.

Sunday 22 June 2025

Visiting parts of the Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational and Baptist sections of the cemetery, learn about the colourful characters who shape our region, their stories and how they shaped the society we live in today.

Sunday 24 August 2025

Covering the Anglican and Catholic sections, learn about the unique stories and discover the ways in which the people of our past have helped shape the society we inhabit today. Learn more about these ordinary people with extraordinary tales.

Sunday 26 October 2025

Learn more about the Ryde District's Italian community looking at early landowners and prominent families and how they lived, worked and contributed to the Ryde community. There is much to uncover about the colorful individuals who have influenced our community.

Join us on our Remembrance Day tour, where we'll delve into the fascinating world of military burials and commemorations. Explore the grounds of the cemetery as we pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed for their country. From the poignant stories etched on gravestones to the symbolic markers of remembrance, this tour offers a heartfelt journey into the history and significance of military presence in our community.

• Please arrive at 10.45am for an 11.00am start

• Parking is available onsite

Bookings are recommended— this is a free event, but places are limited.

Please wear enclosed walking shoes, and bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle.

Please dress for the weather including sun, wind or rain.
