Students and staff will learn about the latest research on household food waste and innovative ways to become socially responsible citizens. This research corresponds with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Speaker: Professor David Pearson - Professor Social Marketing, School of Business and Law CQUniversity and ENGAGE Program Leader, Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre

    Professor David Pearson, an Australian household food waste expert based at CQU Sydney Campus, will be sharing insights from nationwide research he is leading as part of Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre. David has an established international research profile in applied management and marketing. His expertise is in environmental sustainability in consumer society. This focuses on encouraging consumers to make considered choices, such as improving their health and contributing to a more environmentally sustainable global food system. 

    In addition, he has considerable leadership achievements in tertiary education, a broad portfolio of leading curriculum development for high-level tertiary subjects as well as significant engagements with industry, government and charity sectors. 

    He is currently a senior executive in the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre where his responsibilities include leading the ENGAGE Program ($9.6 million 2018-28). This embraces education of future leaders (30 PhD and 12 Masters), skills training in industry (Industry Connection Hub), and a portfolio of research projects which provide evidence to support behaviour change for consumers.
