• Is Fiji Day on the Coast free to attend?

  Yes. Fiji Day on the Coast is a free community celebration.

  General event entry is free, and guests are welcome to enjoy the live entertainment, food vendor area, market stalls and festival-style community atmosphere throughout the day.

  This free event has been made possible through the generous support of our sponsors, partners, donors and community supporters.

  Food vendor and market stall purchases are at attendees’ own cost.

• Do I need a ticket to attend?

  A free Humanitix ticket is required only if you wish to attend the Official Opening Ceremony, due to limited auditorium seating.

  You do not need a ticket to attend the general event, browse the market stalls, purchase food, or enjoy the live entertainment after the ceremony.

• What time should I arrive for the Official Opening Ceremony?

  Doors open at 10:30 am for seating, and the Official Opening Ceremony begins at 11:00 am.

  Guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow time to enter the auditorium and find a seat.

• What happens if Official Opening Ceremony tickets sell out?

  Numbers are strictly limited due to auditorium seating capacity. Once tickets are exhausted, additional tickets cannot be issued.

  To guarantee your place at the Official Opening Ceremony, please book early.

• Do children need a ticket for the Official Opening Ceremony?

  Children under 3 may sit on a parent or guardian’s lap without a ticket.

  Children aged 3 and over require their own free ticket and seat for the Official Opening Ceremony.

• Do I need a ticket for the live entertainment?

  No. Tickets are only required for the Official Opening Ceremony.

  After the ceremony, Fiji Day on the Coast continues as a free community event open to all, with no ticket required. Live entertainment after the ceremony is free to attend, subject to available seating capacity in the auditorium.

• Will seating be allocated for the Official Opening Ceremony?

  No. Seating is not allocated.

  A free ticket reserves a seat for you at the Official Opening Ceremony, but general seating will be first-come, first-served. A section will be reserved for invited dignitaries and official guests.

• Are donations required?

  No. Donations are not required to attend Fiji Day on the Coast.

  Fiji Day on the Coast is a free community event. Optional donations are warmly welcomed and help support the delivery of the event and future Bula Mate Project Inc. community initiatives.

  Please note: donations are not tax deductible.

• Can I attend if I am not Fijian?

  Absolutely. Everyone is welcome.

  Fiji Day on the Coast is open to the wider Sunshine Coast community, the broader Pacific Islands community, Fijian diaspora communities, PALM workers and their families, and anyone who would like to experience and celebrate Fijian culture.

• Is the event family-friendly?

  Yes. Fiji Day on the Coast is a family-friendly community event.

  Children are welcome, and the marketplace area will include food, refreshments and stalls suitable for families. Meridan Community Centre also has an outdoor playground area on site; however, children remain the responsibility of their parent or guardian at all times.

• Will there be food and market stalls?

  Yes. Food vendors and market stalls will be operating throughout the day.

  A range of food, refreshment and market stall options will be available, with purchases at attendees’ own cost.

• Can I leave and come back during the day?

  Yes. Outside of the Official Opening Ceremony, guests are welcome to come and go during the day.

  Tickets are only required for the Official Opening Ceremony.

• Is this an indoor or outdoor event?

  The Official Opening Ceremony and live entertainment will be held indoors in the auditorium.

  Food vendors, market stalls and general outdoor areas will be located outside. Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather and consider sun protection, as some parts of the event will be outdoors.

• Is parking available?

  Yes. Free on-site parking is available at Meridan Community Centre.

  Parking may be limited, so guests are encouraged to carpool where possible and allow extra time when arriving.

• Is public transport available?

  Public transport options are available in the Meridan Plains and Little Mountain area.

  Guests are encouraged to use the TransLink Journey Planner and enter Meridan Community Centre, 70 Springs Drive, Meridan Plains QLD 4551 as the destination.

  Guests should check TransLink closer to the event date for current routes, times, walking directions and service updates.

• Is the venue accessible?

  Yes. The venue is at ground level, with accessible entry.

  Accessible parking, accessible toilet facilities and a parents’ room are available on site.

• Will first aid be available?

  Yes. Sunshine Coast First Aid Volunteers will provide a first aid station on site during the event.

• Will there be an information desk?

  Yes. An information desk will be available on site to assist with general event enquiries, raffle information, raffle ticket sales, child wristbands, directions and other event information on the day.

  Child wristbands will be available at the information desk to help parents and guardians write contact details for children in their care.

  Raffle tickets will be available for purchase on the day. Please note that raffle ticket sales will be cashless, and cash payments will not be accepted for raffle tickets.

  Food vendors and market stall holders manage their own payment arrangements, so attendees are encouraged to bring a payment card and/or check with individual vendors on the day.

• What should I wear?

  Casual clothing is recommended, similar to what you would wear to a community festival, fete or outdoor event.

  If you have something Fijian-inspired or something that reminds you of Fiji, you are very welcome to wear it.

• Are pets allowed at Fiji Day on the Coast?

  As event organisers, we welcome assistance animals as defined under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

  Assistance animals must be trained to assist a person with disability and meet appropriate standards of hygiene and behaviour for a public place.

  For the comfort and safety of all guests, pets and companion animals that are not assistance animals are not permitted at the event.

• Will photos or video be taken at the event?

  Yes. Photos and videos will be taken during the event.

  These may be used for promoting Fiji Day on the Coast and Bula Mate Project Inc. on social media, in newsletters, on websites, or in future event promotions.

  By attending, you acknowledge that you may appear in event photos or videos. If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please notify the photographer or event staff on the day, and reasonable efforts will be made to respect your wishes.

• What happens if it rains?

  The event will continue rain or shine.

  The Official Opening Ceremony and live entertainment will be held indoors. Food vendors, market stalls and general outdoor areas will be outdoors, so guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for the conditions.

  If severe weather, a natural disaster or another major incident affects the event, updates will be shared on the Fiji Day on the Coast event page.

• Will event details change?

  Event details, performers and program information are correct at the time of publication.

  While every effort will be made to deliver the program as advertised, details may be subject to change.
