Event description

As THE GREAT GATSBY turns 100, the Long Island Museum is honoring this cultural milestone with an exhibit and a provocative screening of THE SOCIAL NETWORK. Now considered one of the greatest films of the 21st century by the New York Times, THE SOCIAL NETWORK has been called, "Gatsby as a hoodie wearing geek" and compared by Film Comment critic Scott Foundas as a distillation of our modern age on par with Fitzgerald's depiction of the gin-soaked Jazz Age. Come for a freewheeling discussion about what both works suggest is at the center of the American Dream.

The screening will be held in the Gillespie Room of the Carriage Museum. Please use the Blydenburgh Lane parking lot. And don't forget to bring a sweater or light jacket for comfort in the cool climate-controlled museum.
