Eksil Film Screening and Discussion
Event description
Eksil is an award-winning documentary movie about ten Indonesian exiles who have been living in Europe for the past 60 years. They were students under the then Indonesian civil service bond (Mahasiswa Ikatan Dinas/MAHID), studying abroad when President Sukarno was replaced by Suharto in 1965-66 and their passports revoked by Suharto's government. This screening is presented by Indonesian Studies at the University of Sydney and the Australia Indonesia Youth Association NSW and will be followed by a Q&A session with director Lola Amaria.
