Film screening: Palestinians don't need sidewalks
Event description
UTS Staff for Palestine is pleased to host an evening of solidarity with Palestine and fundraising at the UTS campus.
Dare to Struggle Films, makers of Palestine under Siege, has released its latest documentary on the Palestinian struggle for self-determination.
Palestinians Don's Need Sidewalks takes us on a journey through occupied Palestine. It profiles, through Palestinian eyes, life under Israeli occupation before October 7 and after. The film builds on the investigation, by a Jewish professor, a Palestinian student activist, and a former politician, into Israel's settler colonial, apartheid society as documented in Palestine under Siege. From before 1948, the Zionist project has been working to ethnically cleanse the country of Palestinians.
The film also looks at Australia’s complicity with the Israeli genocide, and goes way beyond how mainstream media portrays Israel.
We will have a Q&A session with:
Ahmed Abadla, Palestinian from Gaza, co-founder of Palestine Justice Movement Sydney and creator of the Palestine podcast Red Inverted Triangle
Lee Rhiannon, member of Dare to Struggle Films and former Greens Senator who has visited Palestine a number of times.
The ticket ($25) includes burger with chips (Chicken, Beef, Kofta, or Halloumi) + one regular barista coffee + one Gaza Chock Block.
We hope to bring our UTS community and beyond for an evening of connection and shared solidarity with the struggle and resilience of Palestinian people.
All funds will go to the Gaza Project and the Hebron Human Rights Defenders, organisations that provide direct aid to Gaza.
