TIME (2020) dir. Garrett Bradley 

We’d like to re-introduce Liberation Cinema with our first screening of the year, Time. A documentary fabling the the two decade long campaign of Black abolitionist and matriarch, Silbil Fox Richardson, in her family’s fight against the U.S carceral system. A depiction blurring the lines between the minutiae of daily life and the insidious ways the carceral system shapes our existence.

We’re presenting this film as the lead into our programme focus, cinema of resistance born from lived experiences. Film works that go beyond didactic documentation or dramatic re-stagings, and instead lean into the mediums facilities for telling stories of dissent from their most intimate perspective. 

Screening proceeded by an introduction and followed by an open discussion. A warm vegetarian meal will be provided.
