Filmmakers in Conversation: Distilling the Short Form

Our upcoming filmmaker conversation closes out our July-September focus the short film, exploring its particular beauty and strength as a storytelling form. 

There’s a noticeable groundswell of interest in and appreciation for shorts right now, not just among audiences, but among educators, who increasingly turn to the form for its natural fit within classroom time and curriculum design. 

In conversation with filmmakers Nellie Kluz and Taylor Zoanni, we’ll move beyond easy assumptions about shrinking attention spans to distill what makes a short form so compelling, and what particular challenges and considerations it poses from a filmmaker’s point of view.
