Description

A Performance by Daniele Marzeddu: Films of Sicily and Sardinia

in the footsteps of D.H. Lawrence

Presented for one exclusive day only, the Brighton Italian Festival proudly brings theatre back to the end of the pier! Join us at Horatio's Bar for a unique performance by Daniele Marzeddu: Films of Sicily and Sardinia.

Following the footsteps of D.H. Lawrence, this project explores islands that remain as fascinating and mysterious today as they were when the English writer first explored them in 1921. Drawn from Marzeddu's bilingual book, the performance features an original soundtrack composed by Venetian artist Michele Bertoni.

The project has been presented across several countries as an exhibition, performance, and book tour:

  • Italy: Rome, Milan, Florence, Bologna, Cremona, Piacenza, Venice, Cagliari, and Sardinia.

  • United Kingdom: London, Nottingham, Sheffield, Exeter, Northampton, Southend-on-Sea, Birmingham, and the Broxley Max Festival of Lewisham.

  • Europe: Paris (France), Gozo (Malta), Tirana (Albania), and Madeira (Portugal).

Daniele Marzeddu graduated in Cultural Heritage from the University of Venice. A musician and cultural organizer, he has been taking photographs since the age of seven. After traveling throughout Europe, he has lived in Great Britain for the past ten years. His research interests range from the legacy of historical memory to the intersections between music and contemporary life, and from the collective unconscious to multiculturalism. He collaborates with international organizations, universities, and festivals.

With Edizioni Low, he has published Films of Sicily and Sardinia (2024) and This is Britannia: Portraits of Post-Brexit Britain (2026) .
