Final Decapitation

The Backstory

In 2004—the peak era of denim-clad, neon-infused Y2K slasher remakes—a high school horror fanatic set out to write the ultimate movie script. In just four weeks, he birthed Final Decapitation (previous working title: Final Redrum).

The script was an instant, unintended masterpiece of camp comedy: a mashup of every early-2000s horror trope, packed with stolen dialogue, zero spellcheck, and glorious teenage melodrama. Production collapsed after high schoolers refused to stay after class to be chased around with a digital video camera, but the script survived in a memory box. Over the next two decades—across multiple cities, breakups, low-paying jobs, and late-night bar readings—it became a legendary underground cure for bad days because it makes everyone who hears it wheeze with laughter.

Now, Amber After Dark is giving this lost Y2K gem the live theatrical reading it deserves for one night only at Hyperreal Film Club. All ticketing sales will be donated to Austin Bat Cave, an organization that develops writing programs to empower students to find their voices and tell their stories. What to Expect

• Live Austin Cast: Local actors bringing this wild, high-stakes dialogue to life through a staged reading

• Typos on the Big Screen: The original, unedited script will be projected directly onto the screen behind the cast so you can read along with every glorious spelling and grammar mistake.

• Snacks and Cocktails: Hyperreal Film Club will be serving concessions along with a special themed cocktail.

• Arts for a Cause: 100% of proceeds from ticket and bar sales will go directly to Austin Bat Cave.

The Rundown

• Doors will open at 8pm and the show will begin at around 8:30pm.

• Fair warning, this is a slasher movie script so if you're not into ridiculous descriptions of teens getting slashed, this show is not for you. The content is immature but also adult, and so this event is 18+.

• This is a comedy event, so laugh, have fun, enjoy yourselves! No heckling. We have a strict no-a**hole policy and a thorough knowledge of creative slasher kills, so harassment of any kind means you end up on the cutting room floor.

• There are no refunds once tickets are purchased - but the money is going to a good cause!
