Event description

Would you like to understand more about the basic principles of finance to support your business as a creative?  Creative Bay of Plenty is facilitating a half day workshop that will provide an overview of the competencies that creative practitioners need to support the growth and stability of their business, including:

  • Setting budgets, financial record keeping, and general accounting principles, including information required by funders and/or banks;

  • Preparing a project budget and business plan;

  • Understanding the difference between Statements of Income, Profit & Loss and cash flow;

  • Preparing for annual accounts and tax returns, including managing employment / self-employment and understanding your business expenses; and

  • Cost pricing, wholesale, GST and not-for-profits.

 

The workshop will be delivered by independent curator, Liz Cooper, whose knowledge comes from running her own business and working for small arts organisations.  It will be limited to 12 participants and lots of examples will be provided, as well as exercises to work through as a group.  This workshop will suit those with some experience of running their own business or those with serious aspirations towards doing so.

When:        9.30am-1pm, Thursday 3 July 2025 (including morning tea)

Where:       The Kollective, 145 Seventeenth Ave, Tauranga

Cost:           $36 per person

Bring:         Notebook/paper and pen, or laptop/tablet for note taking.
