Join Lucky Jefferson and Alex Shapiro for a free 1.5-hour virtual writing workshop designed for writers interested in challenging their knowledge of poetry through the everyday
What makes a text "poetic"? In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore the boundary between poetry and prose by working with language we don't typically consider poetic (e.g., emails, textbooks, instructions, news articles). Participants will bring a piece of non-fiction prose that resonates with them and experiment with transforming it into poetry, discovering how small shifts in attention can reveal hidden musicality and meaning. We'll also examine an exemplar poem to see how established poets elevate the ordinary into art. Open to writers at all levels.
