Description

Many community organisations are exploring what Te Tiriti o Waitangi means for their governance, leadership, and decision-making. While the journey will look different for every organisation, understanding the foundations is an important place to start.

This practical online session will explore Te Tiriti in the context of governance and co-governance, helping community organisations build a stronger understanding of key concepts, responsibilities, and opportunities for partnership.

Topics are expected to include:

  • The foundations and significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Governance considerations for community organisations

  • Understanding co-governance in practice

  • Partnership, participation, and protection

  • Questions organisations may wish to consider in their own governance journey

  • Practical examples and insights from the community sector

Whether you're a board member, manager, volunteer leader, or community organisation representative, this session will provide a useful foundation for understanding Te Tiriti in a governance context.

This session forms part of Volunteer Wellington's Community Law training series, designed to make quality legal education more accessible to community organisations across the Wellington region.
