Child Rights - for the kids to know
At Firekeepers we really want kids to have a voice - you are central to village life and your voice matters! Everyone in the village has a responsibility to look after each other and make sure we listen to each other’s yes and no’s - and respect them! That means kids looking after each other and also trusted adults looking after the kids. Us adults that helped organise camp (Hannah, Katrina, Amy, Darcy, Karla, Amaya, Eloise, Saeed, Damien, TJ) - we have an important job to keep you safe and make sure nothing at camp is feeling uncomfortable for you! If you ever feel uncomfortable because of what another kids or adult is doing or saying, or if you think something looks dangerous please tell a trusted adult. You can also come and tell one of us, particularly Amy and Katrina and we will do our best to help. If you feel shy to tell us, you can get a trusted adult to tell us instead. You are also able to tell us your suggestions and ideas to help make the next camp even better! What’s your ideas for how to make sure we all look after each other? Come and share your ideas with us!
Child Safety - for the grown ups to know
While all staff and volunteer mentors and crew on the Firekeepers' Village Camp are required to have current and valid Working with children checks, there are other village members attending the camp, who may not have working with children checks. Firekeepers have a Child Safe Policy, which you can find on our website here… https://www.firekeepers.com.au/ If someone is found to be not following this policy, they can be asked to leave camp.
