Event description

Grace Ongong'a has six mothers, while Semerian Sankori is from a polygamous Maasai tribe and comes from a nuclear family. Both Semerian and Grace have dedicated their lives to empowering women within these deeply patriarchal societies to challenge traditional gender roles, pursue their own paths, and achieve independence without relying on their fathers or husbands.

We invite you to join Grace and Semerian in a fireside chat to dive deep into the complexities facing many Kenyan women who are battling patriarchy as well as poverty.

Through personal stories and insights, Grace and Semerian will shed light on the beauty and challenges of complex family systems, offering a fresh perspective that dispels stereotypes and celebrates the resilience and power of Kenyan women.

Event attendees will be welcome to share their own reflections, ask Semerian and Grace questions, or simply listen in and be inspired. We hope you’ll join us!

In the meantime, you can learn about Grace's incredible journey on Just Peoples' podcast, Why Give a Buck?.
