Firestick Flicks: Looky Looky Here Comes Cooky
Event description
Amnesty Port Macquarie Group are excited to share one of Amnesty Australia’s Firestick Flicks film selections that amplifies First Nations voices.
Looky Looky Here Comes Cooky is a bold and thought-provoking documentary presented and co-written by comedian Steven Oliver. Released in 2020 on the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook’s arrival on the east coast, the film challenges colonial myths through storytelling and music. Featuring performances by Kev Carmody, Birdz, Trials, Fred Leone, Mo’Ju, Alice Skye, and Mau Power, it reimagines this history from First Nations perspectives, creating a modern-day songline about invasion, colonisation, and resistance.
⚠️ Content warning: Colonial violence, racism, oppression of First Nations peoples, mature themes
