Event description

First 72 Hours

What would you do if you were in an emergency situation and couldn’t receive professional help for 72 hours?

The First 72 Hours prompts you to create an Emergency Plan for your business or household.

Building a safer and more resilient community is a shared responsibility across all Victorians, not just those in the Emergency Management sector.

Expect the Unexpected

Emergencies can be hard to predict and emergency services may be unable to reach you in a disaster. National studies show that people living with disability are 2-4 times more likely to be injured or killed during an emergency. Despite this, over 60% of people living with disability do not have an emergency plan.

So what will you do for the first 72 hours if you had no access to power, water, gas, road access, experienced disrupted communications or had limited food?  What would you do if you knew that emergency responders or support services could not get to you, or if you could not get to them?

The City of Ballarat, in collaboration with the State Government of Victoria and Training X, is excited to bring you these amazing emergency preparedness workshops that will help you navigate developing a plan and address these issues and more.  Sign up for your next FREE workshop today!

Lunch will be provided, with the workshop to commence at 1pm. Carers please also ensure you register your attendance.
