Sydney’s First #FishTok Meet-Up with Shroom
Event description
Keen young fishers are hitting our waterways every day, in part, thanks to its growing popularity on TikTok. #FishTok is a thriving community with more than 10 million fishing videos, featuring everything from fishing tips and techniques to favourite fishing spots and species.
These school holidays, TikTok Australia and the NSW Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. Tara Moriarty MLC, along with one of Australia's biggest fishing creators, Shroom, are hosting a first-of-its-kind #FishTok meetup to encourage young Aussies to get outside and teach them the best techniques to tie a lure, drop a line, and land a keeper.
This is a free event; registration is essential.

Location: Secret Sydney Location
Arrival: 8:30am for fishing from 9:00am - 11:00am
Date: Thursday 10 July 2025
Age requirements: People aged 16+ (or 13+ with a parent or guardian accompanying them).
What to bring: fishing rods/gear, bait, sun protection
Wet weather: This event will proceed rain, hail, or shine. If it does rain, gumboots, rain jackets and umbrellas are most welcome
