First Mondays: Nick Baylart Artist Talk and Morning Tea

Monday 5 October 10–11.30AM

Join Benalla Art Gallery curators in conversation with Nick Baylart, celebrating his exhibition Speedscapes. Timed to coincide as part of the Seniors Festival 2026, the talk will be followed by morning tea in the Gallery.  The Speedscapes exhibition captures the way the wide flat plains of north central Victoria are experienced at speed: fast glimpses of sprawling agricultural country seen most often by road or rail, across long vistas and between roadside trees. 

About the artist

Nick Baylart is an emerging artist now based in Shepparton, Victoria, who has been exhibiting in Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales since 2022. He completed his training as a paper conservator at the University of Melbourne in 2018 and worked as a conservator in Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra before relocating to country Victoria.

The Benalla Art Gallery’s First Monday’s program, is a monthly event designed for U3A members and the wider community, who are interested in art education and art making.
