Event description

Following on from the popular NSW Youth Sector meeting in October, Youth Action has invited Ken back to conduct a more in-depth training with the NSW youth sector.

In this training you will gain skills in:

  • Implementing cultural safety principles into practice and workplace policy
  • Cross cultural communication
  • Compassion focused interviewing and
  • Identifying and exercising cultural protocols

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Define key terms and definitions in the context of cultural safety
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the process of overcoming the psychology of terra nullius.
  • Application of Dadirri (da-did-ee)/mindfulness to the process of cross-cultural communications.
  • Draw on the GUIR COURAGE Coaching Model as a culturally safe framework to inform your practice.

Kabi Kabi man Ken Zulumovski (Hon DHSc) recently received the honorary award of ‘Doctor of Health Sciences' by The University of Sydney for outstanding contribution to Australian society through his work with Gamarada Universal Indigenous Resources (GUIR).

GUIR specialises in program co-design, training, mentoring, cultural supervision and organizational capacity building with the unique GUIR COURAGE Coaching Model. The model combines wisdom traditions, western behavioural science and military leadership and provides a holistic framework to support staff training, program development and community engagement. GUIR works to promote community cohesion with a focus on marginalised groups who may be at risk of radicalisation.

GUIR has over 2.5 decades of experience across education, employment, justice, health and mental health spaces and provides specialised and tailored services to individuals and organisations across the private, government and community sectors.
