Travel instructions

/ BY CAR / Once you reach Katoomba, follow the signs to turn left into the town from the highway, crossing the railway line. Turn right at the roundabout, and then left into Cascade Street. Varuna is at the bottom of this long street, at number 141 (on your right, just past Sherman Avenue). / PARKING / Parking onsite is limited to individuals with access needs, although drivers can drop-off their passengers onsite and then move to the recommended parking area. Varuna recommends curb-side parking on Cascade St and walking to Varuna's main entry. As Varuna is in a residential area, it is requested that noise be kept to a minimum when walking to and from the venue, and that all cars are parked on curb-side on Cascade St and NOT parked on Sherman Avenue. / PUBLIC TRANSPORT - BY TRAIN / Varuna is a 20-minute walk from KATOOMBA TRAIN STATION. Additional instructions: The simplest route is to exit the station on the town side, and walk down Katoomba Street (the main town street), crossing at Waratah, Edward and Little George Streets until you come to Abbotsford Road. Turn right into Abbotsford Road, and follow the road as it bends left and then right into Warialda Street. Turn left at Cascade Street. You will see Varuna's main driveway entrance (with large sign at the gate) about 200 metres down Cascade Street on your right, just past Sherman Avenue. On foot, however, Varuna is best entered via the exit driveway on Sherman Avenue, the street on the right. Two houses along, from the corner of Cascade Street and Sherman Avenue, you will see Varuna's exit driveway and the front of the yellow two-storey house up ahead. Simply follow the driveway in. / PUBLIC TRANSPORT - BY BUS / Take Bus Route 696 to either Cascade St or Loftus St near Varuna. Additional instructions: If getting off the bus on Cascade St, walk to Varuna's main entrance and use the driveway to enter the property. If you getting off the bus on Loftus St, you can access the property by walking through the Varuna gardens (there is a Varuna sign), but note that this path is chip-barked and uneven.

Once onsite, walk/drive past the main yellow house, to Varuna's Reading Room. Enter through the main door of the building near car park.

After entering the building, the Reading Room is on the right.

Hazards

Varuna's driveway, car park and gardens are uneven and care is recommended when accessing the property at all times.

Head down the corridor past the kitchenette.
