Walking Box Ranch is open every first Saturday of the month for a morning of volunteer activities followed by a special guest speaker or feature and a tour of the ranch house! Learn more about Avi Kwa Ame National Monument while also helping to restore, maintain and preserve the historic cattle ranch and desert home of silent film stars Rex Bell & Clara Bow.

FAMILY FUN DAY at WALKING BOX RANCH!
Join us for a memorable family day at Walking Box Ranch in the stunning Avi Kwa Ame National Monument:
- Dive into the rich history of the Old West and design your very own cattle brand
- Unleash your creativity and make a petroglyph inspired by ancient rock art
- Channel your inner engineer and build a functional LED flashlight to take home
- Take a tour of Walking Box Ranch led by our very own movie cowboy, Ron Safran
This hands-on day of fun is perfect for all ages, blending art, science, and history while surrounded by a breathtaking desert landscape. Want to get your hands dirty? Volunteering (details below) will be taking place at the same time as the activities above.
Volunteering Details: Join us in maintaining and restoring this historic desert treasure! We’ll be doing groundskeeping and other special projects at Walking Box Ranch from 9-10:30, and family-friendly activities will be going from 9 all the way to 11:30
Come in sturdy, closed-toed shoes, clothing that protects you from the sun and potentially pointy plant life, and bring a water bottle. We'll bring gloves and other protective gear, tools, spare water, and snacks.
