Event description

Walking Box Ranch is open every first Saturday of the month for some volunteering (weather permitting) followed by a tour and a special guest speaker or activity! Learn more about this special place and Avi Kwa Ame National Monument while also helping to maintain and preserve this historic cattle ranch and desert home of silent film stars Rex Bell & Clara Bow. First Saturday events are free, but donations are appreciated.

This month’s special feature:

CLARA BOW SATURDAY MATINEE in the Walking Box Ranch bunkhouse

Stay out of the heat and enjoy a Clara Bow Saturday Matinee in the Walking Box Ranch bunkhouse! Our very own movie cowboy Ron will be giving a tour of the ranch house (looking spiffy with original furniture and items from the Walking Box Ranch Collection) before screening Hoopla (1933), clips from Rainbow Ranch (1933) and a short Betty Boop cartoon called Poor Cinderella (1934). There’s a rumor that there might even be some popcorn involved.

Volunteering Details: Due to the weather this time of year, activities will be limited to the screenings and tour of the ranch house. There'll be future opportunities to lend a hand, so stay tuned!
