The First Tuesday year kicks off on the second Tuesday in February with Prof Gigi Foster, a panellist at the first Big Dialogue (on universal basic income) and great supporter of The Brisbane Dialogues since.

In between times, she has co-authored a book: The Great Covid Panic - What Happened, Why, and What To Do Next about what she sees as a huge policy and executive failure over Covid, somewhat in contrast to our speaker in November, John Quiggin. It is a very thought-provoking and lively read, drawing on deep and wide research, making a compelling case that reason and good policy went right out the window, with most of the prepared pandemic plans, two years ago - which we will be paying a high price for, for a long time to come.

DON’T buy the book on Amazon! Add it to your ticket below to receive a signed copy on Tue 8th. If you cannot make it, contact Murray to make separate arrangements. $25 without p&p (20% discount for First Tuesday attendees and Brisbane Dialogues supporters).

No activist by nature, Gigi is adding the role of resistance leader to her outstanding academic economist bio, moved to action by the damage to human wellbeing she sees from misguided and downright bad policy and actions by governments, corporations, media and others during the pandemic.

This will be another lively, enjoyable First Tuesday around the big table with light food and drinks.
