Dive beneath the surface and discover the dark, hypnotic world of fishbone fans in this 8-week performance course with Whiplash, Mx Burlesque Sydney.

Combining the dramatic lines of fishbone fans with the mystery and allure of the Siren, this course will take you from fan technique through to a fully choreographed group performance.

Across eight weeks, you'll learn how to manipulate fishbone fans with confidence, explore flowing and dramatic movement, and develop the performance quality needed to bring a character to life on stage.

In this course you will learn:

• Fishbone fan handling and foundational technique

• Fan openings, closures and transitions

• Fishbone fan-specific movements and tricks

• Creating dramatic shapes, lines and silhouettes

• Flowing movement and musicality

• Character development and performance quality

• Group choreography, formations and staging

• How to perform with confidence, intention and presence

The Performance

The course will culminate in a live group performance on November 27th, giving you the opportunity to take everything you've learned into the spotlight.

You'll learn a complete choreographed piece inspired by the dark and seductive mythology of the Sirens, working together as an ensemble to create something visually striking, mysterious and theatrical.

Fans Provided

Fishbone fans will be provided for use during the course and performance, so you don't need to own your own pair to participate.
