Fishing and Planting for a Healthy River
Event description
Get your hands dirty and help care for our River!
We are partnering with OzFish for a morning by the River!
We will be:
- Hearing from OzFish fishing expert, Lucas Kas
- Leading a fishing activity including a casting demonstration and knot tying
- Handing out giveaways
- Planting native species to help improve fish habitat along the Nepean River!
By learning sustainable fishing techniques and by planting native plants, we are conserving the biodiversity of the River. This will improve fish habitat for native fish species who call this river home.
After we’ve finished fishing and planting, we’ll be enjoying a BBQ lunch.
All refreshments and activity equipment provided.
What do I need to wear and bring?
- Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, sturdy closed-in shoes, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
- Bring a bottle of water.
- Your own fishing gear if you'd like to fish
The event is open to everyone. Children must be supervised by an adult.
Registrations are essential as spots are limited.
Those who love to fish are welcome to stay after the event and fish this beautiful stretch of the river. Note anyone over the age of 18 who is holding a rod and fishing should have a licence. Exemptions include an adult supervising a youngster, or a pensioner with a pension card. Read more on the NSW DPI website under Fishing Rules and Regulations.
