Fit to Rent: Healthy homes in hot summers and cold winters | Renters Forum Adelaide (SA)
Description
Far too many Adelaide renters are living in homes that were never designed for today’s climate, especially with the heatwaves that are becoming more frequent and intense, and cold winters. That means homes are uncomfortable, unhealthy, and too expensive or impossible to properly cool and heat.
Renters can’t insulate a ceiling they don’t own, they can’t install solar on a roof that isn’t theirs, and so they bear the brunt of the discomfort and the power bills, while the upgrades sit outside their control.
Join Renew to discuss our research on Minimum Energy Efficiency Rental Standards (MEERS), in conversation with South Australian Council of Social Service (SACOSS) and Anti-Poverty Network SA (APNSA).
We invite renters to join us in this open forum. We will also share tips for making rental properties more comfortable.
Help advocate for MEERS, and find out what you can do, at home and in the community.
Free event. Light lunch, tea and coffee provided.
