Five Easy Steps

Build your soil testing knowledge and learn how to turn results into practical fertiliser and livestock investment decisions in a variable climate.

Take the guesswork out of soil fertility and fertiliser decisions and join South East Local Land Services' Agriculture Team for the upcoming Five Easy Steps workshop series.

Designed for producers and advisors, this practical 3-day program will help you build your understanding of soil testing, interpret your results and make informed fertiliser and livestock investment decisions.

Using the Five Easy Steps framework, you’ll develop a customised soil fertility plan based on your soil type, stocking rate and production goals. The tool guides the process, but the decisions remain yours.

You’ll learn how to:

• correctly collect soil samples

• read and interpret soil test results

• plan fertiliser use with confidence

• make informed fertiliser and livestock investment decisions

• support pasture growth and farm productivity.

Workshop structure:

This program is delivered over 3 workshop days, with attendance at all 3 days essential.

• Day 1: Soil testing – Monday 21 September 2026
  Learn how to correctly collect soil samples and pick up the equipment you’ll need to complete soil testing on your property. Please note: morning tea will not be provided on Day 1.
  
  

• Day 2: Understanding your soil tests – February 2027
  Learn how to interpret your soil test results and understand what they mean for your property.
  
  

• Day 3: Using the Five Easy Steps tool – March 2027
  Use your soil test results and the Five Easy Steps tool to develop a customised soil fertility plan for your property.

Further details, including dates and times for Days 2 and 3, will be provided to registered participants.

Location:

• Workshops will be held in Bega, Yass and the Goulburn/Southern Highlands region. Please nominate your preferred location when registering.

• Venue details and final workshop locations will be provided by email following registration.

• Places are limited to 20 farm businesses at each location.

Event costs:

• 5 Easy Steps is free to attend, with places available for up to 2 people per farm business.

• Participating properties will receive 2 free soil tests, with the option to purchase additional tests at cost.
