Event description

Rice & Spice – An Indian Home-Style Meal Rooted in Wellness & Tradition

A Celebration of Simplicity, Seasonality & Storytelling Through Food

At the heart of this event is intuitive, plant-based Indian cooking inspired by Ayurvedic wisdom. Richa will prepare a delicious and comforting Indian vegetarian meal, while sharing the medicinal purposes behind each spice from the traditional "masala dabba" (Indian spice tin). Participants will have the chance to touch, smell, and identify spices as Richa explains their cultural and health significance.

Together, we’ll challenge the myth that Indian food is always spicy or heavy—instead, it’s deeply healing, wholesome, and created with intention.

This is a great opportunity for our cultural and linguistically diverse residents to connect with each other and build stronger networks.

🌿 On the Menu

🍚 Steamed Basmati Rice – Fragrant and grounding, basmati rice supports gentle energy and digestion.

🥣 Moong Dal Tadka – A light, protein-rich lentil dish infused with turmeric, cumin, mustard seeds, and hing.

🥬 Patta Gobhi Matar – Stir-fried cabbage and peas seasoned with curry leaves and gut-soothing spices.

🥒 Cucumber Raita – A cooling yogurt and cucumber condiment, perfect for balancing the meal.

🍮 Suji Halwa – A warm, aromatic semolina pudding cooked live with ghee, cardamom, and optional nuts for a sweet ending.

🌟 Bonus Takeaway: Recipe Card

Participants will walk away with a beautifully designed recipe card featuring all the dishes and spice notes, so you can recreate the meal at home and continue exploring Indian cooking with confidence and care.
