Flinders Beach Walk - Grade 2 (Easy)
Event description
The Berwick and District Bushwalking Club invites you to join them on a Flinders Beach Walk, beautiful coastal scenery on the east side of the Mornington Peninsula Grade 2 (Easy). This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria.
An easy walk along the coast from Flinders with rock pools and coastal vegetation and abundant birdlife. Great photo opportunities. The walk will be on the beach and tracks close to the beach.
DISTANCE:13km easy there and back walk of 4.5 hours
WHO IS THIS WALK FOR? This walk is suitable for all walkers, experienced or new to walking, of medium fitness able to walk on sand for most of the 13km.
CHILDREN AND PETS: This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the walk, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home. Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.
AWT GRADE 2 (Easy): A mix of beach and steps. AWT Grade information.
PACE: A slow and steady pace to accommodate all our walkers with stops for morning tea and lunch
TOTAL ASCENT: Level walking, no ascent
WALK DESCRIPTION: A walk on the beach from the Flinders jetty. The beach is firm with rock pools and great coastal vegetation. Lovely views across to Phillip Island and the Nobbies.
MEETING Point: Meet at Bass Park, Flinders Jetty Carpark. Park near the toilets. Please arrive 10 minutes before start of walk. Google map: Flinders Jetty
DIRECTIONS: From the roundabout in Flinders take Wood Street, turn left into Bass Street and continue to the Flinders Jetty.
CARPOOLING/PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Carpooling not available
PHONE SIGNAL: Available through most of the walk.
TOILETS: Yes, at the start/end of the walk.
WHAT TO BRING
Mandatory:
- Emergency contact form with medical info (from welcome pack)
- 1.5L water
- Backpack
- Rain jacket
- Hiking shoes/boots
- Personal first aid kit (your health is your responsibility)
- Sun hat/sunscreen
