    Event description

Join us for the launch of our podcast series on the Hunter Valley Floods of 2022.

    .

The Hunter Valley Floods of 2022 left an indelible mark on the community, reshaping landscapes and lives alike.

Working with the Singleton Neighbourhood centre, we're proud to launch our new series, Beyond the Deluge: Flood Resilience Stories from the Hunter Valley.  Join us as we delve into the stories, experiences, and resilience of those affected by this natural disaster.  By amplifying voices and shedding light on both the challenges faced and the triumphs achieved, we seek to honour the spirit of unity and resilience that defines the Hunter Valley region.

    SPEAKERS

    • Evelyn Hardy: As secretary of the Broke Community Hall and together with a wonderful group of local women, Evelyn played a pivotal role in offering help and support to the local community.
    • Mick McCardle: Recounts his personal experience of the flood, as well as sharing the story of being in charge of the operations centre at the Broke Community Hall during the 2022 catastrophic flood.
    • Interviewer and fellow Kintsugi Hero, John Milham, guides us through these compelling narratives.

We look forward to seeing you there.

    ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Singleton Neighbourhood Centre and Kintsugi Heroes have worked together to collect stories highlighting the Hunter Valley community’s resilience following the 2022 floods.

Kintsugi Heroes is producing 12 ‘Kintsugi Heroes’ episodes suitable for video and audio publishing as well as radio broadcasting across the Vision Australia national radio network. The stories will also be included in a book that will be freely distributed in the Hunter Valley region.

These episodes will feature a range of locals sharing their real-life experiences of overcoming adversity, serving the community in challenging times, and offering encouragement and motivation to others who may be going through similar difficulties.
