Flora walk and talk , KooyongKoot Clean Waterways Expo'.
Event description
Join Neville Walsh for a Guided flora walk in the Burke Road South Wetland, behind U3A. This is an easy stroll with the former senior botanist at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Victoria & co-editor of the four-volume Flora of Victoria.
Neville is passionate about identifying and conserving rare and threatened plants and has been involved in describing and naming more than 140 new plant species and subspecies. In 2024, he was awarded the (Professional) Australian Plants Award, established by the Australian Native Plants Society to recognise people who have made an outstanding contribution to the knowledge of Australian plants. In 2025, he co-authored a guide to the 121 species and subspecies of Wattles of Victoria and Tasmania.
We are very fortunate to be able to offer this guided walk with Neville to learn from his immense knowledge and love of native plants.
Neville will be joined by Sam Russell founder of the Urban Guerrillas who have carried out revegetation work adjacent to Gardiners Creek and will discuss the challenges of planting in a heavily modified and disrupted riparian area.
