Floralia: Festival of Flora
Event description
Floralia: Festival of Flora is a free social event that invites UQ students to see the RD Milns Antiquities Museum in a different light.
Join us after dark for an evening of costumes, pizza, and drinks (non-alcoholic) to celebrate the festival of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers, plants, and fertility. Immerse yourself in the vines, blossoms, and colours of the Floralia in honour of nature’s abundance!
Attendees will be treated to a talk on the Floralia by postgraduate student and resident expert, Kyla Duffy, and an exclusive self-guided tour of the Museum's gallery exploring the themes of the Floralia, such as agriculture and fertility.
Prizes are on offer for best dressed, so please come in suitable attire and get into the occasion. Take inspiration from the colours of farmland and gardens, or even incorporate plants and flowers into your look.
The event is presented in partnership the University of Queensland Classics and Ancient History Society and the UQ Archaeological Society and is supported by a grant from the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Student Futures team.
