About the Artists

Sarah Bradley is an exciting and experienced flautist who already has an extensive solo repertoire in addition to which she is a sort after member for ensemble groups. Sarah performed as a soloist at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall in 2018 and 2019 and with the NSW State Wind Band in 2017. She recently gave a series of concerts with Australian concert pianist Ambre Hammond.

Sarah served for several years as Principal Flute for the Bluescope Youth Orchestra and its chamber ensemble, Friday Camerata, touring throughout Europe and Australia.  Sarah has achieved her AMusA and LMusA with Distinction in flute studying with Suzanne Cowan, and a Certificate of Performance in piano. Sarah placed second in the 2019 International Finals of the Young Artist Competition at the Australian Flute Festival, is a two-time winner of the Wollongong Conservatorium's Advanced Concerto Competition, and winner of the Bluescope WIN Wind Open Age Scholarship. In 2018 Sarah served as a Young Ambassador for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, promoting orchestral music and programs to young people.

David Vance studied piano with Nan Price and Greville Rothon, assistant to Claudio Arrau. He holds honours degrees in music as well as English literature, and furthered his studies as an accompanist and conductor in Italy, Austria & England. He taught at the University of Sydney, the NSW Conservatorium of Music and Wollongong Conservatorium, prior to his appointment to the University of Wollongong, where his contribution to the musical life of the university was recognised in the award of an Honorary Fellowship. David has performed with some of Australia’s leading artists and has broadcast and recorded chamber music for the ABC. He remains active as an accompanist with a particular interest in vocal repertoire, and devotes much of his time to mentoring young musicians. He regularly contributes program annotations for Steel City Strings and makes an occasional appearance with the orchestra as a pianist and continuo player.

About the Series

Since last October we have hosted four sell out concerts featuring emerging  classical musicians from the Illawarra and Sydney. Each concert is unique - and responds to the development stage of the young artist and their musical associations.
